About Rock Creek at The Park

Rock Creek at The Park is licensed by ADHS under the name Rock Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center, an assisted living center in Surprise. ADHS lists it at the directed care level, the highest of the three ADHS assisted living tiers, meaning it is authorized to care for residents who cannot direct their own care, for example because of dementia or other cognitive impairment. State records show a capacity of 66 residents and authorized services covering directed, personal and supervisory care.

The community is operated by Koelsch Communities. The site describes 24 hour on site nursing and says its around the clock staff are alerted whenever a resident moves, using motion sensors and window sensors, plus pull cords placed throughout the building so a resident's location can be signaled to caregivers. It also says staff are trained in the Humanitude care approach.

On dining and daily life, the community's site describes restaurant style meal service with meals made from scratch, says families and friends are welcome to share a meal with residents, and describes outings such as Monday lunches at Ray's Pizza, Goodwill trips every other Thursday, and visits to The Bible Museum. Floor plans on the community's site list both private suites and shared suites.

Visit in the afternoon and sit in the dining room for a while. Ask to see the actual room, not the model.
