Does choosing a community in Scottsdale mean staying close to us?
Not by itself, because Scottsdale stretches 31 miles from north to south across 184.5 square miles. A community near Old Town and one in North Scottsdale are both honestly described as Scottsdale, and they are nowhere near each other. We ask early who will visit and from where, then build the shortlist around that drive rather than around the city name.
What kinds of senior living does Scottsdale actually have?
Both kinds, and far more of the small ones than most families expect. Arizona licenses an assisted living home for ten residents or fewer and an assisted living center for eleven or more, and Scottsdale has one of the largest licensed supplies in the Valley, with the small licensed homes far outnumbering the larger communities. So most assisted living in Scottsdale is a house on a residential street with a handful of residents and a small staff. One caution on addresses: a Scottsdale mailing address does not always mean the home sits inside Scottsdale city limits, so we check the actual location rather than the postmark. We show you both kinds, because the quieter option suits some people better than a campus does.

The city runs two senior centers, Granite Reef on North Granite Reef Road and Via Linda on East Via Linda.
