Arizona state record

What the inspections show

In Arizona, the Department of Health Services licenses assisted living homes and communities, inspects them and looks into complaints. Its record for each one is public on AZ Care Check (this home's record, opens in a new tab).

The state cited one deficiency at its last routine inspection (December 22, 2025, a visit that also looked into a complaint). 55% of similar communities had 1 or fewer at theirs.

One complaint inspection since November 2024 led to a citation, and one other found nothing to cite.

AZ Care Check lists no enforcement action against this license.

Across three inspections since October 2024, the state never cited the same area twice.

ADHS accepted its plan to correct the deficiency cited since November 2024.

How the figures above are counted

  • Routine figures: 72 licensed assisted living centers with 100 or more beds in the Phoenix and Tucson areas whose last routine inspection, between September 2024 and September 2026, also looked into a complaint.
  • An area is one section of Arizona's assisted living rules, such as Medication or Service plans.
  • Counts only: ADHS does not rate or rank homes, and neither do we.

Overview

In our words

Sunrise of North Scottsdale is a large assisted living center, licensed by ADHS for 149 residents at the directed care level, the highest of the three ADHS assisted living care levels. That license covers directed care services, personal care services and supervisory care services.

According to its website, the community is run by Sunrise Senior Living under the trade name Sunrise of North Scottsdale. Memory care is a program called Terrace Club, for residents with early to moderate Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, and short term stays are offered as well. Before move in, a nurse meets with each prospective resident to work out their healthcare needs, and once they live there, residents have access to 24 hour care.

The website describes daily life this way: the culinary team prepares three fresh, seasonal meals each day, transportation runs on a schedule, and there is a beauty salon, a heated outdoor pool and garden terraces with views of the surrounding mountains. The site also says the community is pet friendly.
